Hi,
I´m looking for a second HDD that would fit in my ultrabay, with more capacity and performance than my recent Toshiba 120 GB. The WD Scorpio Blue 2.5'' Sata 250 GB caught my attention. I was wondering how it would perform against a Travelstar 7K200 in terms of transfer rates since I often need to tranfer large amounts of date. Any insight would be appreciated :)

The 7k200 is faster. According to each company's site:

WD2500BEVS: 600Mbits max
7K200: 876 or 695Mbits

The speed depends on platter size, hence the 'or' with the 7k200. The 200gb model has highest density and speed of course, the 100gb model also seems to be using a fast high density platter (but apparently not the 80/120/160).

The companies exaggerate the speed of course, typically you get around 15% less of what they say.
