I want to buy a thinkpad with the legendary keyboard everyone is talking about. It would help my cause if the R series has the same keyboard coz it is much cheaper.

Thanks!

No, they're not all the same. For example, for the T and R series, 14" and 15" screen models have different keyboards.

will I be able to replace the 14" R series keyboard with the T series keyboard? Can I buy this component separately?

Thanks for the prompt reply!

The thread mentioned tells most of it. It seems that the language version is also an important factor. I have a T42 with Dutch keyboard and it is one of the famous NMBs. So are the UK English keyboards on my X30 and X31 (the X3x series apparently all have NMB keyboards, and it's true that they are excellent).

The NMB keyboard on my R60 is much better than the Chicony on my T42.

Not exactly answering your post, however the old 750C I had had a much better keyboard than any new computer I have come across. It was a lot better than the one on my X24. So, in general, the older the computer the better the keyboard. Of course not everyone likes the same things in a keyboard.
