What Happened to my ThinkPad Configuration Utility?

#1 Post by eecon » Mon Jul 28, 2008 11:57 am

I used to have a handy utility called ThinkPad Configuration on my T61 that I could used for a number of things including setting the default reading speed of my DVD player.

After several months of using System Update, it appears that ThinkPad Configuration is now gone.

Any thought's here would be appreciated .... thanks.

do you mean this: http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site. ... IGR-4ZFRG3 ?

i don't see anything similar on the t61 driver matrix: http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site. ... MIGR-67853
and a quick glance through: http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site. ... idate=true didn't find it either.

do you recall how it was installed? factory image?

That might be it but as I recall it was called "Configruation Manager" .... strange though, as I distinctly remember a version of it came with my T61's original factory installation of WinXP SP2 back in September 2007. I'm still using the original pre-loaded factory installation of WinXP.

Maybe System Update replaced that utility with something else?

Without it, how does one set default optical disk reading speeds to control noise, etc?

I'll have to fire-up my old T42 to verify it that was the utility I'm looking for .... thanks again!
