Hi All -

I wasn't sure if this was the right forum or if it would be better in the specific R-series forum, but maybe most of these Bioses are similar and it would be general enough to go here.

The problem is in booting to a USB flash drive. I have to enter the bios to change the order from hard drive to USB drive every time. The pen drive is listed under its actual name in the bios, so I'm assuming that when it's unplugged from USB, it gets removed from the bios and then gets added back at the bottom of the list when I plug it in again.

Is there any way to keep it persistently above the hard drive so I don't have to enter the bios to change the setting every time I want to boot from a flash drive?

I am having problems a little bit like this too.

I am trying to boot my T42 from USB HD, but everytime I shut down and power up again, I get a message telling me there is no OS installed.

I have to shut down again, go into the BIOS boot options and check.

The thing is, everything is always in the correct order, so I just move the USB drive from the top, to the second priority option down, and then move it BACK to the top again and save.

Things then boot ok (after a long wait at the BIOS as things seem to idle for a while.)

Really odd.

Any help on this, or explaining the BIOS in general would be great

Playing around with the T2x and T41s that I have seems to say that they also have a problem with forgetting the boot order when the device is no longer available. For example, I normally setup my system's BIOS to boot from floppy, CD then the hard drive. If I remove the Ultrabay optical drive, boot the system and then re-install the drive and boot again, the HD comes before the CD. I don't know if this is something that can be "corrected" by a BIOS update to the latest version. If there's any doubt as to what the device order is, I simply press the F12 key and get the boot menu.
