Change of the LCD cover IBM logo 600E -> X60s

Hello,
I just received my IBM Thinkpad stickers to replace the new Thinkpad logo on my X60s. I bought them off ebay. The seller claims, that they are actually originals.
Now I compared them to the logo found on the LCD cover of my faithful 600E.
There, the IBM letters actually stick out quite a bit and you can actually feel the "texture", it looks and feels solid and rugged.
On the new stickers, the letters are stamped in and the whole logo sticker seems "thinner" and kind of cheaper. Though the stickers quality is on par with the stickers now being on my Thinkpad (the Lenovo ones).
Is this how it has to be? When did IBM changed from sticking out letters to stamped in ones, reduced the "quality appeal" of the logo?
All the best,
Martin
