IBM optical mouse problem?

#1 Post by ADD » Sat Dec 25, 2004 10:17 pm

Hi all,

Great to find a ThinkPad forum, I’ve had my ThinkPad for about 15months now and love it (build quality, design, keyboard, IBM Access software, battery percentage icon etc).

This Christmas one of my presents was an IBM optical 3-button travel wheel mouse.
My old mouse was a Logitech ball wheel mouse, so it’s my first time using an optical mouse. The mouse works but when I lift it up (less than a cm or 20cms) to move it, the pointer on screen moves diagonally South-East. Do all optical mice do this? I find it a bit annoying in the desktop and a real pain when playing Half-Life2.

Thanks to all who replay.

My optical mice do not do this.
When you pick up the mouse are you picking it straight up or moving it south east a bit as you lift? Maybe without even realizing it.

I'm picking it straight up, sounds like I should get another one?
