Damage Protection Transfer Question

I will soon receive a new T61 ordered from Lenovo Direct with the 3 year on-site warranty. I have another T61 also purchased new from Lenovo Direct one year ago with 4-year Onsite Warranty plus 4-year Damage Protection (so 3 years is left now).

Has anyone had success with Lenovo in transferring the remaining 3 years of Damage Protection from one machine to another (to my new incoming T61 in my case)?

I have never filed any claims on the Damage Protection Plan to-date.

It can't be done.

The warranty follows the machine (or the serial # if you want to look at it that way), and there can be no coverage swapping between the different units, even if they are identical.

Within a certain amount of time after purchase you can add this warrany upgrade. I believe it is 30 or 90 days.

Like George says the warranty is with the ThinkPad.
