Vista safe-mode works, nothing else does; strip all drivers?

Hi,

THE PROBLEM:
My X61T is having trouble. After Azureus crashed the system about a dozen times requiring a hard reboot, Vista crashes upon loading now. When vista loads, it looks fine, but if I click on anything I get a pale while screen overlay sating the process must end. Now vista only loads in safe mode with no networking (safe mode with networking crashes).

THE FAILED REMEDIES:
I ran checkdisk and sfc /scannow while in safe mode, which seemed to repair some files, but it did not make any difference.

ANOTHER REMEDY?
I was thinking of trying to strip vista of all drivers to get vista to be like safe mode, and then installing one driver at a time. I have 2 questions about this:

1. Would this help? Would this make my regular vista enough like safe mode to work?

2. How do I do this? I can try to uninstall all the drivers in the control panel, but some will not unistall in safe mode (it just says "You cannot uninstall this") and some will not be uninstallable under the regular uninstall panel (in control panel).

I have a dual boot with XP, but I got much more tablet functionality out of vista.

Thanks for any help!
Aris

The first step I would attempt is to boot into SAFE MODE and use System Restore to restore to a point before you began having problems.

If that is unsuccessfull, try one of the following. The first link looks the most promising.
