Lenovo System Interface Driver...

so i'm trying to sort out a likely driver issue over here: http://forum.thinkpads.com/viewtopic.php?t=67695

anyway, i'm seeing the system interface diver listed in the driver matrix where it specifies that it's for vista. opening the link at:
http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site. ... 67228.html, the title, Lenovo System Interface Driver for Windows Vista and XP - Notebooks, leads one to believe that it's now also for xp and from the version history:
<1.01.0805>
- (New) Support for Windows XP.
- (New) Support for ThinkPad SL400,SL500.
- (New) Support for ThinkPad R400,R500,T400,T500,W500,X200 (added).
<1.00.0702>
- (New) Support for ThinkPad X300 (added).
- (Fix) The installer program creates an empty folder.
<1.00.0610>
- (New) Initial release.

yet, the file gives very little info on what this driver actually does.

so... can anyone shed some light on it? think it might help solve the issue i've described in the other thread?

tia.

I´m not sure if this answers your question, but this driver is needed for different features like onscreen display, trackpoint, audio etc. to work properly under Windows.

thanks. :)

i had a feeling that was its general purpose, but the documentation is quite sparse. the only reason i'm looking into it is that i'm trying to resolve a challenge on an r50p and was wondering if it might help. i've not installed it on my t43 and have no issues without it, so i'm leaving well-enough alone.
