Decided to get an SSD drive. Anyone with an SSD drive, pleas

#1 Post by Crunch » Thu Sep 25, 2008 12:53 pm

Hi everyone...

Alright, I need to consolidate all of my hard drives, and I've decided to get get an SSD!

So, I'd get an SSD (64GB or 128GB) as my main drive, and one 500GB drive for the Ultrabay caddy.

Are any of you operating an SSD drive now. Which is the fastest, problem-free drive? So which brand should I get??

I hear Intel makes the "best" ones, with the Intel X25-M for the 2.5" size, and then there's an "extreme" one in the Intel X25-E.

So what kind of performance increases can I expect between the X25-M, and the X25-E??

Cost is not necessarily a problem, but I love a deal. :D Where do you guys with SSD's buy yours? It's simply getting the best one that suits my needs and compatible with my T60p.

Thank you all very much! :)

Thanks aaa, looks like the site is dedicated to SSD's. hehe...Do you have one? And the Fusion brand seems to be the fastest by far if you believe their benchmark tests!??

Thanks again!

NICE FIND!!! Thank you. The part # in the Google search engine. Duh. What's wrong with me? Umm...don't answer that...lol.

Yea, now this store has it in stock. Awesome. I actually found another source earlier today who actually found me! He also has the Intel 5300 WiFi Link, so I'm all set. I'd rather give somelike like that my business than a big corporation. I am always grateful when my own customers do that with me.

Thanks again!!!!!!!!! You're a gentleman and a scholar, and my own personal hero. 8)

buy.com has the X25-M in stock, $639. If they would ship to Europe I would have placed my order.

They also list the SSD on their eBay account, same price: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... =p3907.m29
X61s 7666-E3G 3GB RAM, WWAN, Bluetooth, Fingerprint, 64GB Samsung SSD

Actually, I thought I saw "To Germany" and then not specified. Maybe they do ship to Europe. But like I said, you can always use me for the shipping to Europe part. I've got tons of cellphones and PDA's, too, that, in Europe, basically cost 33-50% more. Incredible price difference on everything.

Do you want American TV, too. LOL...I was always after that bigtime when I still lived in Germany. But thanks to my Slingbox, the greatest invention ever, I'm able to get all of my U.S. TV channels, even the HD ones. Incredible how well it works. I'm tempted to give you my finder ID. 8)
