Hi,

I know that some people allready had a similar problem but I found no solution for me problem.

The Problem:
=========

when I put in any burned DVD or CD in my T41p the work place is not responding anymore. Also WinDVD and PowerDVD do not respond until I get the DVD or CD of the drive. I use the T41p for 10 Month now and it worked always fine (also with the mentioned DVDs and CDs) but few days ago, when I was watching a burned DVD it stuck and after that nearly no burned DVD or CD worked anymore.

what I have done so far:
================

Changed the DVD-drive (no difference)
made complet reinstallation of the system (no effect)
deinstalled the DLA-software (no difference)
updates Bios etc. (no difference)

The IBM hotline has also no further ideas.

What makes me crazy is that it worked always fine until Sunday but I did not installed anything or droped the notebook.

Please help !!!

try to refresh dvd-drive bios, i think it can help. May be error in multizone or something like that.

try use this drive on *nix - in this case you can see error messages (i do not know where to look for errors on windows)

try to use another drive on this machine.

Perhaps the fault of the burned DVD.......
You can try burning them in a slower speed...

The burning speed doesn't make any difference on the copy as long as it works. Once you get the bits on there they are there no matter what speed was used for burning. Set the program to do a compare after it burns to make sure you get a good copy and if you make it in the right format it should play. It might help to use a utility like the tools with Nero or DVDInfoPro to check your discs and the drive to make sure they will work together. For instance, if you are burning DVD+R discs but the player won't handle them you need to do something differently such as change the Book Type of the disc to DVD-Ram so it will play.
