What's a 600x 650 meg? Are you talking about a Thinkpad model 600X with a 650Mhz Pentium III CPU? What hard drive? I use eset NOD32 for Antivirus.

If Harry is right in his assumption, a Restore to factory status would wipe the disk of its old debris.
Otherwise, a plain FORMAT would do the trick, after which you can install what you like.
If the laptop is slow, try maxing out the RAM, and replace the (old, slow) hard disk with a newer 5400RPM HD.

Just pop in your win 2000 install disc, delete the current partition/s, create a new one/s, format them, then install the OS. Get drivers from Lenovo.

You may have to download the network(ethernet) driver first and put it on removeable media so that you can get back online after the fresk W2K install.

Hi Harry
While it might seem simple to you, but as far as l am concerned it's like brain surgery to me.
I am trying to get this computer to move faster and l'm sure that l have virius's etc.
Would it be easier to pick up a new hard drive on Ebay?
Thanks
Alan
