reset HDD password

#1 Post by plukke » Fri Oct 31, 2008 10:25 am

Hello,

I recently sold an R50e without the HDD, when I put the HDD in an external enclosure I couldn't access it anymore. Password protected, my bad...

I know the password, I just need to be able to reset it. Is there any way to do that over USB? I have an X60s but that'sjust S-ATA and no ATA drives I'm afraid...

Don't mind losing the data, I'm backed up. Thanks in advance! :)

If you know the buyer, ask if you can visit him/her with your HD, to unlock the PW in the original machine.
Failing that, borrow a similar IBM machine (R50/51, T40/41/42) and do it on that.
You can't do it via USB.
