Hello,

I am trying to upgrade my hard drive from the stock 40gb sata Toshiba drive, to a new Western Digital 250gb sata drive.

It is a WD2500BEVS model hard drive.

The notebook is a Z60m Thinkpad.

It's bios version is 1.05 and embedded controller is 1.02.

Once ghosting of the 40gb drive is complete, the new drive just blinks a single cursor after the bios splash screen.

I haven't had much time yet to search the forum, and was wondering if there are any quick answers to be had.

If there are, I am very grateful. Thanks in advance,

Dawg.

Just wanted everyone to know that I was able to complete this job.

How I did it:

1. Put the large new hard drive in the Thinkpad.
2. Attach the original 40gb SATA drive to an USB to IDE/SATA converter.
3. Boot to Acronis True Image
4. Clone.

Works like a charm doing it this way.

Brand of USB to IDE converter I used I got at Tigerdirect, it is a SABRENT brand, title on the box says "USB 2.0 Cable to Serial ATA (SATA) & IDE 1.8"/2.5"/3.5" Hard Drive & 5.25" CD/DVD-RW Drive"

I did not have time when I first posted this to search this subject...further information can be found at this FAQ
