Green "LCD brightness" bars: stop from showing all

Hi,

I have the same issue with all 3 machines. I work from my laptop (an X61t, X31 and/or T42) on battery all day, and have the monitor turn off after 1 min to save juice (in meetings, etc.). This is a great way to work, since I don't need to haul around the power brick and plug in at every meeting. There is often not a good place to plug in at every meeting room, since plugs are usually in the corner of a room and would take me away from the central discussion areas of the meetings (not to mention that I want to talk to people when I walk in and not have to hunt down an outlet).

The problem is this: when I move my mouse (which turns the screen back on) and get back to work, the green bars show for a few seconds every time (this happens dozens of times a day for me).

I love seeing the green bars when I use "Fn/home" or "Fn/end" to increase/decrease brightness (e.g., when in a bright room), but I don't want to have to see the exact brightness of the screen every time the LCD comes back on due to power saving (i already KNOW the brightness setting, after all). I find it a bit distracting to see a big green thing over my word document text at the bottom of the screen.

So is there any way to (a) reduce the time the green bars show or (even better) (b) have the green bar show only when I am increasing or decreasing the brightness of the LCD?

Thanks,
Aris

in Display Properties - there is an "OSD" tab - from there you can set various things about the green bars - not sure if duration of display too, but take a look (i don't have the TP with me nou to check exactly)

Hi. Thanks for the tip. However, I cant find the On Screen Display settings in XP or Vista. I go to display properties and can'f find them anywhere. I don't have the Productivity center installsed (but the hotkey drivers are). Is that what I'm missing here?

Best,
Aris

weird...
under XP if you have the OSD driver (from lenovo site) installed - it should appear where i've told you...

maybe there is an older version installed - one that has no control interface for the user...

On Screen Display settings are found in Display Properties--->Settings--->Advanced--->On Screen Display
