Repair a wifi antenna cable with missing U.FL connector?

#1 Post by RealBlackStuff » Fri Nov 21, 2008 7:54 am

One of the wifi-cables in one of my laptops has a missing U.FL connector, that goes onto the MiniPCI card.

See this: http://www.hirose-connectors.com/products/U.FL_5.htm

Can these connectors themselves be replaced/repaired or do you have to replace the cable?
Could I cut off a connector with say an inch of cable from an existing cable (such as a U.FL pigtail) and splice that onto my 'broken' cable end?

Does anyone perhaps have a spare cable lying about that would fit a T23?

I guess you could splice, but you would lose gain. It's better to replace the cable, and you can likely get some off ebay. To replace the connector on a cable, would require a crimper tailored for those connectors, which would be extremely expensive.
