Hi,
On my new ThnkPad R400 with Vista, I have a problem with automatic connection to WiFi network. In Access Connections software, I set my home wireless network. When I switch on computer and go to internet, it is ok, but after about 2 minutes since start Vista, internet stops working. Ping is still OK to every site (google.com, yahoo.com,..), but I can't open any website. When I disconnect and then connect to the network, its all right until next computer startup.

I am very agonized, I tried to fix it many hours, but nothing helped.

Do you have any ideas ?

Thanks.

I would try disabling IPV6 first. See the following two links.

Thanks for your advice. However, it not really help. I disabled IPv6 according to manual and after reboot, internet connection stops working again. Problem must be somewhere else. :-(

It is mystery for me, why my computer doing this.. If you have some other ideas, I will be very grateful for it.

I had a similar problem on my T400/Vista setup while using IE7. Try using Firefox as a test.

I am using Firefox and have this problem. I tried IE7 too, but problem was here also.
However it is curious, that you have this problem only in IE7.

You might try Tweak Test to see what it reports.
http://www.dslreports.com/tweaks

You can check for malware.
http://www.malwarebytes.org/mbam.php (you can download for free)

You can try repairing Winsock2.

You could have a "Black Hole Router".

You can Google "Black Hole Router" for more info.

Unfortunately, advices not help. I used System Restore to the date of first system startup and I still have this problem. So that I think, there it is a problem with preinstalled OS or with Access Connections software...

I turned off the automatic WiFi connection and I will be connecting to the network manually after Windows startup.

If you have any ideas or you had similar problem and solved it, please write me.

Thank you.

I found one interesting thing. I used my notebook with one other WiFi AP and on it, everything was OK. After OS startup, There was no problem with internet connection. However, I haven't ever had a problem with my AP, so that, either is problem with Access Connections, or with my AP's configuration.

Do you have any idea, what could be set wrong in AP ?

Why don't you disable Access Connections and let Windows manage your connection?
You'll need to start the Zero Config service first in Start/Run/services.msc
Works all the time for me...

Thanks for advice. Unfortunately, it still didn't not help. I permanently stopped Access Connections in services.msc and restarted OS. After reboot, I have same problem again. Access Connections was surely disabled (Fn+F5 didn't working)...

It is possible that it's a hardware problem ?
