Thinkpad Adv. Port Rep II and Lock ?

#1 Post by kevinlwu » Mon Jan 17, 2005 6:44 pm

I have a Targus CL lock (combination lock) and a IBM Adv. Port Replicator II for my T42 but when you insert the lock into the lock slot of the replicator the moving teeth(the center moving teeth) won't engage in the slot(to tight or to much friction?) and won't allow the lock to function. Does anyone use a Targus or Kensington key(circular kind) based lock that works?

Thanks,
Kevin

I use the Kensington key-operated lock and it fits perfectly into my Port Replicator (model I, not model II). I was led to understand from the advertising that the IBM lock assembly was designed to work with the Kensington and the other brands then cloned their locks to also work. I bought another brand first and found the fit was very sloppy and the locking was not very sure. I returned it and got the Kensington mail-order because I couldn't find it locally in Los Angeles. It was a much better fit. I hope that answers your concerns.
