Thinkvantage access connections (Wireless windows AD)

Has anyone successfully used thinkvantage access connections with a 3com card. Trying to use it on a desktop wireless card 3com.

If that is not possible, is there any other utility / software which can provide single sign on , i.e the wireless connection is made before the user logs into a windows domain ( trying to use 802.11i EAP authentication)

When I had an R40e which had no in-built wireless, I used a 3COM PCMCIA card stuck in the side to create a wireless antenna. Then I used Access Connections to find wireless networks and manage connections.
It worked a treat.

It should work just fine. Used it with a Belkin card with no problems. I use the Windows system because when I use Access Connections, my school's network goes nuts and kicks me off for some reason.

Do you know what version of access connections did you use, right now with version 5.12 it says platform not supported, trying it on windows xp.

Blimey, it was 3 years ago that I sold my R40e so it would have been a few levels back from version 5.12 version then.
Why not use Windows to connect instead of Access Connections?

The situation I have is the following.

If I have desktop computer which is on a Windows AD domain and has a wireless card. I want it to connect to the domain before the user logs in using PEAP authentication + WPA2 AES ( Enterprise). This computer will not have LAN connectivity only wireless card due to its location.

So that even if a particular user has never logged in using the computer ( i.e his credentials are not cached), he will still be able to authenticate against the AD and login.

Is there any option in access connections or some other way to achieve this natively via windows or any other 3rd party software. There seems to be Cisco secure connect utility software ( which is licensed). Not sure how well it would work, have to try the trial version and see if it works.

I think what you have to do is to delay the domain login until after the physical wireless connection has been established. I recall there is a way to do this, but I do not know how - a server expert would need to chime in here. .... JDH
