Thinkpad Access Connections freezes [SOLVED w/ update]

#1 Post by henrikb » Tue Jan 20, 2009 1:27 pm

People have been reporting that the ThinkVantage Access Connections (AC) application on their Thinkpads has been freezing occationally/frequently. This may occur for seconds up to minutes, or even requires a reboot. The Access Connections is used supposed to be a utility to make it easier to connect to different wireless and LAN networks, but all this freezing has been rather frustrating.

Recently (and finally), Lenovo has released an updated version of AC which seems to solved the problem:

ThinkVantage Access Connections v5.12 for Windows 2000/XP:

ThinkVantage Access Connections v5.12 for Windows Vista:

IMPORTANT: Make sure to read the installation notes, especially what other drivers and software need to be updated *before* you updated AC. Note also that the files downloaded will only extract the setup files - you then have to launch these manually.

I used to have AC 4.42 for Windows Vista (Build 7RCN38WW). After installing AC 5.12 for Windows Vista (Build 7VCV85WW), AC has not frozen a single time and does not feel too sluggish.

Cheers

Henrik
