My external harddrive isnt ticking after being turn over

Hello, was using my external harddrive which is a pata 80 7200 rpm drive. While it was plugged in via usb wire, I tugged on my laptop pulling the harddrive off the counter. It did a couple of turns upside down and landed on the floor. I see the indicator light that the power is on but no ticking. Windows does not even recognize it anymore. I have also try it on other computer with no luck. So do I have a paper weight?

A paper weight would be my guess. You could open the enclosure and verify that nothing got unplugged.

if you shake it, do you hear anything? that would definitely be a bad sign. i agree that you might want to open the enclosure and make sure everything is still connected.

Yes, Got it back! Thanks for the tip. I took it apart, unpluged and it came back to life. Everything seems to be intact. Thanks again.
