hello.

i am considering to buy an thinkpad t400 or w500.
while checking for the international warranty i noticed that there are different product numbers or codes with the same models. the t400 for example ships as a 4061 or 4063 and the w500 as 4058 and other maybe.

does anyone know whether there is a system with that numbers?
is there a meaning with it - does it tell which components like graphics or processor i have choosen?

it would the whole thing much easier if i understand what the product code means.
also i read about a product extension like "cto" - what does this mean. are there other?

thanks for comments.
john

CTO means Configured To Order, i.e. not a standard model.

In older series, the difference between groups was mostly based on the type of warranty that came with the laptop, and if this was a business or personal laptop.
Don't know if that still applies.
