Bluetooth License Expiry issue

#1 Post by xwray » Fri Mar 06, 2009 12:36 pm

have a X-200 XP SP3 and a Lenovo BT mouse...both have been working perfectly until last night when I got a pop-up message stating:

"Bluetooth License Check Failed
Please make sure the BT device is plugged in/turned on, the device you are using is licensed for this software and that your license has not expired"

I have no idea what this is about. There were no licenses involved. The X-200 BT is built in and the mouse worked out of the box without needing any other drivers other than what was installed in the as-delivered system.

What license are they talking about?

I tried several things I found on Google but none worked. It seems that most seem to think that there is a problem with the timing between when the BT radio is turned on versus when the device is turned on but that doesn't make a lot of sense to me...the only thing you reall get from the Google search is that it must be a very common occurrence.

Since I had a recent image of the hard drive I just restored that and all is back to normal. However, I would like to understand the root cause of this message if someone has an answer. What is the mechanics of what actually "went wrong"...is it that a program, driver, DLL, whatever, gets corrupted and confuses the BT stuff or what? If I knew what actually went belly up it might be possible to fix it without an image restore if it happens again.

thanks for any feedback.

My guess would be that problem is with device authorization:

Try to uncheck/remove authorization (or something similar like licence validation) for BT protocol that your mouse uses, you can find that in your BT apps properties...

Also did you pair mouse and computer?

Other than that I have no idea what other "licence" issue could be involved...

Maybe someone else knows better...
