Ericsson F3507G WWAN Card on Telstra NextG
Ericsson F3507G WWAN Card on Telstra NextG
For anyone like me that wants to use one of these on Telstra NextG but cannot get it to connect this post may do the trick.
I have a ThinkPad x301 and purchased a F3507G card for it from eBay.
I used my Telstra NextG Sim Card that is on a plan. ($29.95pm for 300MB).
The Software with the WWAN device says the SIM is not compatible.
Then I Made a New Dialup Connection:
Phone: *99***1#
User: telstra.datapack
Pass: telstra
But it would just error, so after reading just about every document that mentions the F3507G card on the internet I realized i needed to tell the card to turn on before i dial it up, and the only way was by using a terminal application before every dial up attempt.
So i wrote up this app to help me, it will turn the device on and off with the click of an icon and it can even start the NMEA output of the GPS form a shortcut.
http://members.westnet.com.au/elpamyelh ... ontrol.zip
The Ericsson F3507G card installs as 3 devices (1. Minicard Modem for Dialup Connection (2. Minicard Data Modem (COM8) for a Modem Manager like this little app (3. Minicard GPS Port (COM9) for your GPS app.
I have not tried this with a Bigpond SIM yet, Hope this post helps
Any questions or improvements for my app please feel free to ask

Is your Ericsson 3507g Lenovo branded? If so, did you install Lenovo's Wireless WAN drivers (1.0.1046.215) and try Lenovo's Access Connections (5.12) to control the F3507g?

Re: Ericsson F3507G WWAN Card on Telstra NextG
I am running T400 with the Ericsson F3507g card and am now having problems connecting to either Vodafone Australia or Telstra.
The issues I'm having are unreliable network connection, its unclear if it is a result of access connections, the card driver or other. I am running the latest drivers for Ericsson and Access Connectiong 5.21 on Windows Vista Ultimate 32bit.
Although I have been able to connect to both I am NOT able to connect reliably (80% cannot connect, the times I do connect it often disconnects). I attempted the setting the network type to 3G only -- no affect. I also thought that the power management settings on the network cards (default to maximise batter life) may have affected but changes to maximise network performance made no difference.
I have a Vodafone Internet Stick that I have used with my T60p and it works without issue from the same place in the building.
I have a collegue who has another vendor's laptop that bought a sierra wireless card. He had much the same symptoms and solved them by downloading a dialer interface from sierra wireless directly. I have not been able to find a similar tool from Ericsson directly (as yet).
Any suggestions?!

You can try the following. I am not sure if it will work with your internal card or not, but the Sierra Wireless 3G Watcher works with Sierra Wireless's internal cards even though it is not specifically listed for them.

It was suggested that I try this version .. is there any specific reason to choose either model of Sony Ericsson card?

Re: Ericsson F3507G WWAN Card on Telstra NextG
I recently bought an Ericsson F3507g WWAN card from Lenovo Australia and installed it in my T400 2764CTO.skovron wrote:I have not been able to find a similar tool from Ericsson directly (as yet).
I put my Telstra Mobile Broadband SIM in the SIM slot, told Access Connections version 5.21 to use Telstra Mobile as the WWAN provider and was up and running. Its been working well for me for both WWAN and GPS.
Re the the Ericsson Connection Manager software you linked above..... I have found some references to a few F3507g users (not using ThinkPads) who claim to be using it, but the download page does not reference the F3507g as a supported device and I couldn't get it working with my F3507g.skovron wrote:I have not been able to find a similar tool from Ericsson directly
Cheers,

Re: Ericsson F3507G WWAN Card on Telstra NextG
Thanks Bill.
The Sony Ericsson Wireless Manager 5 installed but couldn't find the F3507g, I assume that it is only looking at USB, PC/Express card slots.
I'm going to uninstall and reinstall access connections and broadband manager and see if that helps. I note that my WWAN provider list does not include Telstra (?) since my last Access Connections update.

It appears the link I posted is a different driver. Perhaps it would work. Don't really know.

Re: Ericsson F3507G WWAN Card on Telstra NextG
Before uninstalling the WWAN drivers and Access Connections I decided to check version numbers to ensure I had the right packages to reinstall on hand.
I uninstalled the Ericsson software as it couldn't see the card. I decided to run one last test before going through the hassle of reinstalling -- for unknown reason the card now works without issue. I will test further before continuing.

Hello ..
You could give this version a try : http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site. ... 72390.html
It's for the IdeaPd S10, but I don't think the system type matters ...

The Sony Ericsson Wireless Manager 5.2 from the link above (repeated below) completely solved my stability problems with the 3507g. I uninstalled thinkpad access connections, and then installed WM5.2 (note that after WM5.2 is installed you have to cancel installation of the other drivers for th EC400G). The version I have is 5.2.2056 12 PA25 Since I changed the software, I have not gotten a single disconnect (before it was every 5-30 mins) and performance is very stable and fast.

Re: Ericsson F3507G WWAN Card on Telstra NextG
Have my X200 working with Dell Wireless 5530, rebranded Ericsson.
Installed Dell drivers (Dell 20/08/2008, 4.48.1.9001) under Win7.
Needed whitelist BIOS.
Must have SIM installed, even if expired..
Using Vodafone Mobile Connect 9.4.3.16284.
To get GPS to work:
Used Hyperterminal (from XP) to start NMEA input on GPS Com:
AT+CFUN=1
AT*E2GPSCTL=1,5,1
AT*E2GPSNPD
you may have to turn GPS on using Minicard COM port (not the GPS COM port)
GPS works well with OziExplorer and Global Mapper.
Does not work with Garmin MobilePC even if pointed to GPS COM port manually.
Any ideas ? Hyperterminal, Ozi, Mapper all show NMEA input on GPS Com port..
