I am currently working on a TP 701C Butterfly.
Its CMOS battery is completely corroded, but I could still see that it was a Varta V30H battery.
This is a 1.2V battery, 43mAh, ca. 0.45" (11.5mm) diameter and ca. 0.22" (5.3mm) high.
The V30H has been replaced with Varta V40H, such as depicted here.
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... 0177112514
(The auction is for an 80mAh, which is too big).
I have found the correct V40H in the 43mAh version, but only without solder tags.
Can someone tell me a source for this CMOS battery WITH solder tags?
I found a ready-made 701C battery (http://www.nicdladyonline.com/), but they want $14.- + shipping, outrageous!
Any help appreciated.

You should be so lucky! http://forum.thinkpads.com/viewtopic.ph ... 80#p134580RealBlackStuff wrote:I found a ready-made 701C battery (http://www.nicdladyonline.com/), but they want $14.- + shipping, outrageous!
I would pay the $14 + shipping (up to $5) without blinking an eye - and I have (for a 600E). You'll probably waste too much time trying to locate a coin cell with solder tags, and soldering directly to a lithium battery is a dangerous enterprise.
EDIT: I guess I just kind of assumed it was a lithium coin cell. That battery could be using different chemistry (I see it is a NiMH in the link).

Re: CMOS Battery for 701C Butterfly
Next question then.
I found the correct V40H (without tags) for $1.- + $1.99 shipping on eBay
http://cgi.ebay.com/Varta-Rechargeable- ... 9717282508
They are Ni-MH.
I've tried soldering wires to the common CR2032 as found in most laptops, but could not make a proper contact.
Anyone know how this can be done? I have enough wires from dead CMOS batteries to mess up a few.
Would solder + flux do the trick?
(Just trying to save a few bucks).
EDIT: just found instructions. You need a 50-60W soldering iron, not the standard 15-25W for electronics.
