Does anyone know how long a fan should last in an r60e?

I have left my computer on pretty much continuously for the last 2 years and the fan is starting to make a grinding noise. I would have used standby or hibernation but it causes crashes! I had to rewrite the hard drive partition table twice in the first few months I tried using it, and I didn't really want to push my luck.....
Also, I figured the fan wouldn't turn on much when the computer was not in use.
Stupid winblows.

There is no specific service life of a fan, that I'm aware of. Just like nearly every other component which comprises a ThinkPad, it's subject to many variables. While based on my experience it seems a little soon to fail, that's pure speculation on my part.

I had to have the fan replaced on my T42 when it was about 3 years old. YMMV.
