Newest Power Manager 1.52: Trouble Selecting Custom Profiles

#1 Post by eecon » Sat Apr 11, 2009 6:14 pm

Regarding WinXP Pro SP3, is anyone else finding that custom power profiles which you newly create from within Lenovo's latest v1.52 Power Manager can not be selected directly from within PM itself? My latest v1.52 only allows me to select from it's own 6 standard profiles, even though my newly created custom profiles are properly listed right there next to its own standard profiles?

As a workaround, I can however successfully select my new custom power profiles using WinXP's Control Panel>Display>Screen Saver>Power tab because WinXP's Control Panel thankfully also lists my new custom proiles after I created them from within PM v1.52.

Maybe I installed the wrong PM? Here is the link to the new Lenovo v1.52 PM that I used.

Most importantly, I noticed that before I installed v1.52, there were two Thinkvantage Power Manager items listed under WinXP's Control Panel>Add or Remove Programs .... one was Thinkvantage Power Manager (v1.48 at the time) and the other was Thinkvantage Power Manager Driver. I'm not sure what the difference is between the two listings. I uninstalled both before manually installing the new v1.52.

But now there is only one installed entry in Control Panel .... just the Thinkvantage Power Manager item. There is no Thinkvantage Power Manager Driver .... am I missing another component?

Could this explain my trouble?

I've search Lenovo for "Thinkvantage Power Manager Driver" and it directs me back to the same v1.52 download link I posted above. Maybe my mistake was uninstalling the older PM stuff before installing the new PM download?

With today's software, I just never know anymore these days :??:

Normally I just use Lenovo System Update, but it looks like that online service is out of action until Lenovo finishes revamping it sometime in May.

Update: Okay, I found the missing separate Power Management Driver 1.52 and installed it today.

However, the original problem persists .... I can't select custom power profiles from within Power Manager itself.

Anyone else experiencing this issue with PM v1.52?
