Hi,

I'm purchasing a Lenovo X200 and would like to swap out the factory-installed drive with one that I am purchasing elsewhere. What is the best way to get the factory installed OS and other software/drivers from the HD that the laptop will be shipped with, to the new HD I'll be buying. I don't know if it makes a difference, but it will likely come with a 64GB Samsung SSD, and I'll be purchasing a 128GB variety of that drive.

Thanks so much for the help!

If you look click on Start and All Programs you should find a directory called ThinkVantage and one of the programs in there is called 'Create Recovery Media'. This may be used once to create an exact copy of the factory installation onto a CD or DVD.

If I may suggest that you acquire an enclosure for the extra drive for little $, install the new hdd in it; download and install Easeus Disk Copy (http://www.easeus.com/disk-copy/); copy to the new hdd and you should have the exact bootable version. It takes less than 20 minutes.
