LCD cable 27L0519 or 91P9145

The T21 I bought from EBAY is showing problems - LCD/Display turning off intermittently and I have to close and open the Display panel to turn it back on.

This issue was widely reported and seems to be a defective LCD cable 27L0519.

IBM has a replacement LCD cable 91P9145. for $50.

Used LCD cables 27L0519 are on EBAY for about $30.

Questions:

1. Has anyone tried a refurbished/used LCD cable bought from EBAY and how is it behaving?
2. Is it easy to change ourselves?
3. Are there any cheaper alternatives?

Buy from a reputable ebay seller that specializes in selling laptop parts and you should be fine.
