APPLE 15" studio display LCD backlight; repair/no repair?

#1 Post by alexander_s » Fri Jun 12, 2009 10:29 pm

I have a 2nd gen Apple studio LCD that I bought new eons ago for around $900, IIRC, and certainly used for whatever rated hours it was; most recently with my X31 when docked and last week the display went 'black' on me. It fails to display when connected directly to another machine, fails to hard reset and the power indicator changes from amber (no input) to green (input) when I connect a machine to it, leading me to conclude that the backlight has died. It looks kinda cool and it appears that I can have the display repaired for around $115 more or less, but I am not sure if this would be stupid on my part, given that I could probably get a better, new 19" display for less than that amount. Any ideas?

I agree. Are you looking for specific recommendations for a new LCD in the $125 price range?
