There has been a discussion before, but a poll is a good idea!

I voted for the soft rim.

Soft dome is my favourite. Why? Because it comes as standard.

Soft dome for me too. I've tried the other too but decided that the default one suits me the best.

Cats Tounge for me. In my line of work, the laptop gets used outside a lot. Quite a lot. So my hands are usually damp from sweat. Nice, I know, but it happens. I like the traction I get with the Classic.

Hmm, looks like I'm in the minority. Most of the Thinkpads I use from day to day have the classic cap, and only one has the soft dome. Of those two, I like the feel of the classic better. But, my favorite is... the soft rim. And that is what I choose in the poll.

My T30 arrived with a rugged classic dome. I thought...ewww...why is it all fuzzy??!!! Did these guys just not care and send me a Thinkpad with an eaten pointer??!!! I actually even thought that it was deteriorated from fungus or something!

lol. I eventually found out that the fuzzy is normal and that there were other types of caps. I was excited because I saw them on Fleabay and wanted to replace that tattered classic dome with the other types. Now that I have all three types I prefer the soft dome

It just feels tactile and easy to maneuver with

I love the Soft Dome on my TrackPoint !

Softrim. It's the only one my finger stays on during rapid movement or long, slow movement. The others work, but I find myself having to pick up my finger and reposition it after a few fast movements or a few long, slow movements.

I chose soft rim for this exact same reason.

Yes, I know it makes me the odd man out here, but I've always preferred the trackpad. When ThinkPads had no trackpads, I always used a mouse.

Classic Dome, as I stated in another poll which I can't find and wanted to quote;

I remember from my younger years that I used a Thinkpad, however I do not know really anything about it. The only reason I know it was a Thinkpad is from using the TrackPoint (it was a classic dome of course). I also remember using other laptops and being disappointed that they did not have something similar to a TrackPoint.

My vote was on the soft rim by the way

Same here. The ridge reduces my finger fatigue by requiring almost no downward pressure. With the others, I have to push down and over as well.

Soft Dome huh guys. I guess I'll have to try it again. I didn't like it because there were microscopic points all over it that would stick me. lol As for me I'm using the Soft rim.

Do any of you guys have finger pains from repetitive movement? Also, what finger do you use? If my index finger starts to hurt too much I use my middle finger.
