What is the difference between "fan ATI" and "fan integ"?

#1 Post by AHuan » Mon Jul 20, 2009 8:08 pm

My fan has died on me and I'm stuck using my desktop. I'm having trouble figuring out which new part I need.
In the hardware maintenance manual for the r60, there are two listings for a replacement fan thing:

"thermal device and fan ATI"
(followed by a bunch of part numbers and fru numbers)
and "thermal device and fan integ"
(followed by a bunch of part numbers and fru numbers)

It's on page 170 of the hardware maintenance manual for the r60/r60e. What is the difference between these two parts?

I have a 0659h9u. Which one do I need?

What does "partnumber"-CTO mean, what does the CTO part mean?

What does ATI stand for here?
0659 h9u (R60e, C2D 1.86 Ghz, 1 gb, uxga ips + wsxga+, 60 gb 5400rpm, intel pro abg, heavy, DVD-RAM, integrated video (intel GMA 950)
(Does this model support AHCI?)

The 0659h9u has an Intel 950 GPU (Integrated), so you'd want the fan described as "thermal device and fan integ"

Configured To Order (I think).

That's the graphics chip manufacturers name...
Wikipedia wrote:ATI Technologies Inc. (ATI) was a major Canadian designer and supplier of graphics processing units and motherboard chipsets. In 2006, the company was acquired by Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) and was renamed the AMD Graphics Product Group or ATI Technologies ULC, although the ATI brand was retained for graphics cards.

Oh, okay, thanks everybody. I wouldn't mind knowing how you know, though.

This is the first page.

You can also see where you input your machine type and serial number to get specific part numbers used to build that particular machine.
