HD; How many Platters in WD2500BEVT ?

I've been wanting to get a single-platter 250-320gb 5400rpm for my T60p....and have been leaning towards the Scorpio Blue as the best of the current lot...

But none of the usual suspects like Newegg say a darn thing about platter/head count in their listings.

So I burnt up some time on rural dialup at that irritating WD website :P , and downloaded their so-called "datasheets" for both Scorpio Black and Scorpio Blue, and.....

The datasheet for the one I'm interested in, the Blue, doesn't list the heads/platters for each model!

While the -Black- datasheet -does-.

Arrggghh...

Does anyone have this info?

I'm specifically interested in the WD2500BEVT and WD3200BEVT.

thanks much!

Richard

I took a quick poke around the WD site and did not see anything useful in regards to the platter configuration. I suppose you could contact their support staff and ask:

http://wdc.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/wdc.cfg ... er/ask.php

This seems to say that there's two platters in the both the WD2500BEVT and WD3200BEVT drives:

Ray, thanks much for your helpful post.

Apologies for the delay in replying....I don't seem to be getting email-notifications reliably recently.

With the specials now appearing on the 500gb at just $75, I may convince myself to just put up with the 2db higher noise of the multi-platters...

thanks again Ray,

Richard
