Thinkpad T23 WHITE SCREEN TROUBLE

Hi, I have a IBM Thinkpad T23. It was a hand-me-down from my uncle. Its worked great for the past 5 months until yesterday. When I hit the power button, a blank white screen comes on. No Bios, No windows, no nothing. At first I though it might have something to do with the battery. I pulled the battery out, threw it back in and still nothing. I have plenty of computer experience and I've never seen this problem before. I'm pretty sure its a hardware problem. I re-installed windows on it a couple months ago, and its ran fine since then 'til now. Occasionally a couple of horizontal black lines show up. The fan also seems to be running in a strange rhythm.
I'm not sure what to do...
Any and all help is greatly appreciated!
Thanks,
Mike.

I'd guess that you need a new LCD. I have one for sale for $40 shipped it you are looking for a project. Hook up an external LCD as a test...what happens?

May well be those pesky inductors.
