IBM PC Doctor, having a heck of a time trying to install

I am a novice here, need to have things broken down in simple terms.
I have down loaded the program, have a CD drive, now what. After clicking the icon I saved on my desk top for PC doc, it goes to setup and then closes after it's done. Never get to install it on my cd drive. What is the trick? What does this refer to ''3.Start your CD-R/RW writing software's feature for creating a CD from an ISO imag''. Thank you for your time and assistance

What type of file extension is your PC Doctor??? Is it a .zip or .iso file type?

If it is an .iso file type you will need to burn that image to a recordable CD (ie CD-R).

Then set up your BIOS so that it will boot up using the CD drive first. You can also try hitting F12 on boot-splash screen (IBM screen that you see when you first power on). Hitting F12 at boot will give you a choice of boot devices.

If you have the burned .iso image then you should insert that disc and boot from the CD drive.

If you do not have an image burning software- try Imgburn from Filehippo. Just google filehippo and there will be a free burning software called Imgburn.

IIRC, you have to run the exec file to create the ISO file and then burn to CD.

No problem, matey. I am pleased you'll now be able to use PC Doctor. It is a great diagnostic tool. 8)

Not sure if this is a problem. My son also has a R51 with PC doctor, checked his system the other day and noticed that PC doctor is in the start menu and it can be opened in windows. My install of PC doctor does not show in the start menu? I downloaded it like the instructions said, on CD from the image download on the CD. It ran through the complete DOS scan of the system.

Did I miss a step? :?:

There are two versions of PC Doctor; one is for Windows, the other is DOS.

The Windows one is shipped as part and parcel of your Thinkpad software. It is good.

The DOS version is loaded as a a bootable version from CD. It is very good.

I hope this helps to explain the differences of the, nominally, same product.
