memory question

I have 2 R51's, I also have 2 spare 256mb modules, son has one 1g module in his laptop and I was thinking about adding 256mb would it hurt or not work or just plain wont make a dif?

More RAM never hurts performance, and might possibly help. It depends on the OS and usage.
