Wiping recovery partition?

#1 Post by LegendaryKA8 » Fri Oct 16, 2009 9:28 pm

Hey there. I have a 100GB SATA drive that was originally in my T60p. As I have upgraded to a 320GB drive for that machine, I've been wanting to use this drive as external storage. I grabbed an enclosure and plugged it into my X60s. Upon firing up Disk Management, I can wipe the stock partition but can't seem to do anything to the preload. I could definitely use the 4GB or so it's taking up, so is there any way I can wipe it out?

I did this long time ago, so I´m not quite sure whether I used Acronis Disk Director or the second method. Anyway, the second method is that: You can try firing up some windows or linux installation disc. If I remember correctly, it should recognize the hidden partition and should be able to wipe it out without problems. There is also a live CD of gparted (free partition software for Linux), it should be able to do the trick.

Hope this helps,

PC-Doctor for DOS can wipe anything off that drive, including the "hidden" partition.

DBAN would be another free option.
