Library Scanner be alramed with my x200 Tablet
Hi? all,
When I go through the security gate, my x200 tablet in bag makes a alarm.
I tried to turn it off, but it also made a problem.
I don't know the reason why the x200T make the security gate alarm.
I'm always nervous on the way to Library.
Could you let me know any idea about that?
Sorry for my English.

Welcome to the forum! Don't be concerned if English is a second, third, or fourth language. We can usually understand ... even with US spellings of English.
If I understand you correctly, every time you take your X200 through the security gate at your college it causes the alarm to ring. No problem, the same thing would happen at any airport security gate. There are many metallic parts in any Thinkpad. These are picked up by the sensors and so the alarm is activated.
You are not being singled out ... so no need for paranoia. Tell the security staff what happens and ask for their advice. That usually gets a good response.
All the best.

Your tablet relys on electromagnetic signal, which happens to easily trigger the library alarm. If the magnet strip in a book can trigger the alarm without any power source, turning off your laptop might not help at all. A non-tablet laptop may not have this problem.iamtheblade wrote:Hi? all,

The security staff at library has no idea about that.
They told me that if so, check it out without laptop. it's so easy..
Anyway, I can't find any solution until now.
Thank you so much.

Another possibility is that the X200's RFID security system has been activated and the library's security gate is reading the signal. Check your system's BIOS menu under RFID and see if the "Gate through detection" option is enabled. If so, try disabling it and see what happens.

I can't find the RFID item under BIOS Menu(I'm using the BIOS ver 3.10).
So, I have no idea about what you said.
Could let me know where I can find the "Gate through detection" option in the BIOS setup?
Thank you again.

Sorry, but I assumed that the X200 supports this feature. I don't have an X200 to confirm this, but on other Thinkpads systems I've used that has this option, you can find the Gate Through Detection entry in the BIOS here:
BIOS / Config / RFID Security / Gate / Gate through detection
BIOS / Config / RFID Security / Gate / Gate through detection

Re: Library Scanner be alramed with my x200 Tablet
So we're clear. Is the _LAPTOP_ alarming or is it setting of the security alarm? If it's setting off the security alarm, stop worrying about it.
