I am using Windows XP. I have some pictures that I am almost certain I have duplicates. Is there a way to find out what's duplicate without going into every folder separately?

Yup, there are several programs for finding duplicate files, including some that are specialized for pictures. Last time I checked, the following two were freeware:

http://download.cnet.com/Easy-Duplicate ... 92636.html

http://dff.nazrashid.com/forum

For the protocol, I´m using the latter one.

Hope this helps,

Marin

Here is a commercial app I saw in my email inbox recently.

The second link doesn't seem to work. I should mention that the picture files don't necessarily have the same name in each spot they are in.

Yes, true! This one should work:

http://www.softpedia.com/get/System/Fil ... nder.shtml

A side note: This is my preferred utility as it offers much more functionality than any other similar tool I have ever seen (including non-freeware)! Such programs do not depend on whether the files have same names or not. Their main purpose is to compare files based on the files content. But of course there many options included how to compare files including file name comparison if you wish to. The only downside of the aforementioned tool it that is lacks real bit-to-bit comparison method, but it uses CRC32 file hashes to perform its file comparison, which has always had full precision for me (no duplicate files omitted).

I hope this helps,

Marin
