I'd like to keep it but not having it running all the time.
Thanks

To my knowledge, it is not "running all the time". If it is the little blue icon that you do not want displayed on the taskbar, right click on the taskbar, then click "Toolbars" and un-check "Lenovo Thinkvantage Toolbox".

The application can still be used by clicking "Start", "Thinkvantage" and then "Lenovo Thinkvantage Toolbox". My experience with the new version of Toolbox has been good so far.

Not so simple, I got proof today that it is running all the time.

I normally suspend/resume my computer and don't do any cold restarts unless required to. So for the past couple of weeks, I've been running with the Toolbox "just a button" not running on the task bar. Today when I resumed the computer, it popped up an alert, which in turn opened a box to tell me a Bluetooth L2CAP interface driver was not functioning.

So even when it is "not on", something IS in fact very much on, doing system diagnostics. I don't know if it comes on during startups and then goes away, or if it is always on but running on a "not a service or a process" level...but something was running and looking at my hardware and drivers. The fact that it only popped up after a resume, makes me think it is somehow hooked into resumes/startups. Otherwise it should have popped that message up way before the computer was suspended.

Time to call Lenono tech spport, and remind them of why the DoD doesn't trust undocumented software on government machines.
