Hi,
I am looking for some set of screwdrivers for opening my thinkpad. I have some chinaese sets without brand, but they don´t fit wery well.
So my question is what type or what label of screwdriver should I choose ?
I will be glad if you post some ebay links here.
ps: generally I want it for X41 thinkpad.
cheers

Go into Google and select the shopping option. Key in a search for Precision Screwdriver Set and see what comes up. I looked on the UK version of Google and there are lots of sets available. You could order from the companies on there but you might find it cheaper to find a supplier in Slovakia.
I hope this helps.

All you need really is a small #1 Phillips (Kreuzschlitz in German) screwdriver, something like this will do great:

You can also look around for the German
Wiha screwdrivers, highly recommended (but expensive)

No magnetic tip, hardened steel tips, very high quality.

Cannot beat the following for quality, at any price -- let alone at $5.97 available at any Home Depot!

Good advice, except for the question of whether there is there a Homedepot in Slovakia?

EOMtp: Thanks for willingness, this set looks good

I was looking in our local stores for phillips #1 screwdriver with no success. Unfortunately, there is no homedepot store in Slovakia

.
Of course I will pay you for set and postage, but I reailly don´t know how much should cost postage from USA to Slovakia. I think that in bubble envelope it won´t be very high-priced.
btw: I found this set
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/8-in-1-Phillip-Sc ... 5d27ad9adb but it is from HK and I don´t know if it will be good quality.
ps: sorry my english

Another vote for the Wiha product. I had no idea that something could be so much nicer than the generic, junky sets that we all seem to accumulate. What a pleasure to use these screwdrivers, and on eBay the price wasn't too bad. One normally expects to pay Big Time for quality German engineering.

vladis you may take a look at my thread (
http://forum.thinkpads.com/viewtopic.php?f=12&t=84187 ) there is some more info about screwdrivers too.
Im almost sold on Wiha screwdrivers but the thing that prevents from buying them is that they dont have magnetic tip which I find pretty useful ...

Keep a strong magnet 'near' your work area. Just before using the screwdriver touch the tip of it to the magnet a few times...wala!...magnetic tip.

EOMtp: I sent you PM. Thanks
ThinkPadTablet: I had stucked screw too, because I don´t used right screwdriver. So I had to drill it out ( a lot stressfull thing, drilling into my thinkpad

But with accu driller it is a lot smoother. )
Harryc: good point, I am doing it same, but sometimes it is enought to take off screw with pincers.

When the screwdriver is not 'magnetic' enough, I also have a powerful telescopic magnet handy, looks like this:

Also handy when a screw drops on the floor, don't have to bend down to pick it up!
