Hello, i wanted to upgrade my Thinpad 380D with the latest Bios but after te Discboot 2 messages appeared, the first was if the AC adapter was properly connected, but the second message i was screared and aborted the procedure, the message was: Is the batterypack fullt charged.
My batterypack is seriously damaged and function only for a few seconds.
My question: Can i procede without the batterypack by only using the AC adapter?
TIA and greetings from the Netherlands, Oscar

Keep the battery in, make sure the battery indicator light is green, the ac adaptor plugged in, then hope that the power doesn't surge or go out. Although failure is possible and has happened in the past, it is rare if you follow the instructions and the process only takes seconds once you get through the insturctions, so in the event of a power outtage, a few seconds is all you should need.
Still, nonetheless, I'm going to have to say go in at your own risk because of what will happen in the rare event that something might go wrong.

So i try to understand what you say to me,
The only reason for the second warning about the batterypack is, that is just to backup in case of an AC failure?
That means that i do not need at all a fully charged pack!!

Correct, for the most part. IBM warns you for that reason, but the update software checks for a fully charged battery as well. I beleive there is a way around this talked about in another thread on this forum.
