Monitor color quality questions

I noticed that my notebook came with the monitor's color quality set for "Medium" (16 bit). Is it okay to set it to "Highest" (32 bit)? Are there any advantages/disadvantages when changing this setting as far as battery life, longevity of the display, easier on the eyes, etc.? TIA

Yes.

Gradations of colour look better with 32 bit colour depth.
