Last time I tried Access Connections, it wouldn't connect to a secure wireless network without MY telling IT what system of security was in effect (WEP, WPA2, etc.) and what form of encryption. As the native Windows connection software can figure that out for itself (as can even my Android cell phone!), I removed Access Connections and used the easier Windows native software.
Now I have a new Thinkpad on order. I am wondering if this shortcoming in A.C. has been corrected. If so, it does seem to offer some nice features. Or am I going to run into the same situation with WiFi?

Has Access Connections improved re: WiFi security?
Re: Has Access Connections improved re: WiFi security?
It depends. Access Connections has a personality. If you do not like it, it won't work. If you do like (I do), it works fine. For me, I picked up a secure WPA connection where I was staying last week and only had to enter the password. ... JDH

Yes, the behaviour was changed to more user-friendly somewhere in early 5.x version. Now you only have to type in the password.

Thanks a lot for the reply. I'll probably keep it and see how I like it, then.Zender wrote:Yes, the behaviour was changed to more user-friendly somewhere in early 5.x version. Now you only have to type in the password.
