r60 palmrest creaky after removal/ reinstall

#1 Post by retired » Sun Mar 14, 2010 1:28 pm

Took the palmrest and keyboard off to change wifi card - now after reinstall , palmrest is creaky, seems like it could go down another 1/16" or less. Is there some trick/technique to getting it as tight as before?

I have a similar problem with my R60 palmrest after removing it and re-installing. I used Lenovo's own video instructions.

Along the right edge of my machine, the palmrest will not lay flat, and is raised approx 1/16". I have tried readjusting the keyboard and the palmrest - but after fastening the bottom panel screws, I end up with the same problem. The problem is that the female screw mount on the palmrest doesn't align perfectly with the screw-hole. (And if you apply force to install the palmrest squarely over the screw-holes, you will break the screw mount on the palmrest.)

If there is some trick employed by Lenovo during the original assembly, it is a mystery to me. I conclude that this is a design flaw.
