create recovery disks

#1 Post by retired » Tue Mar 23, 2010 10:15 pm

I have an r52 with xp. I'd like to create a recovery disk. When I go into Ibm access I can't find an option to create recovery disk. If I don't have the option, is there software I can install that will allow me to create the recovery disk ?

It depends how your machine is set up and what Lenovo software is installed.

The normal route is Start, All Programs, ThinkVantage, and select Create Recovery Media.
It will work once. After recovery disks have been created that is it. BTW, the disks created are to return your machine to Factory Settings.

I hope this helps.

What's an r2?
You could ask in the Market forum and buy a set there for your specific type/model, or go to http://www.<promotion of site not allowed>.com/

If you make the recovery disks yourself (good idea to have recovery disks), test them. The best way is to get an inexpensive hard drive and prove the recovery disks work. Why? If you don't, they may not work just when you need them, and you would not be the first person who had that sad issue happen. ... JDH

Is there a way to create recovery discs on a cd/dvd on a laptop that doesn't have an optical disc? I've been able to create it on a usb hdd, but I kinda need that for other things, will transferring all of those files to a dvd work? Or is there an easier way to do this that I'm not seeing?
