I've got a t43p w/ 2.o gh processor and 1400x1050 14" display. I would like something faster; I run mostly MS Access db programs and interact on web with other database programs. I've been spoiled by the resolution and keyboard feel of the t43p and I'm having trouble finding anything better with similar build, display.

I have had lots of problems with the motherboard (solder connections to graphics), so I'm also wary of lenovo integrated graphics.
But I may be completely mistaken about everything.

A 14" T60 with SXGA+(1400x1050) would be the next/last step, before you have to enter the widescreen LCD world.
This model is available with ATI GPU or integrated Intel GPU, either one will suit your needs.
There's nothing wrong with integrated Intel GPUs.
Your current T43p has ATI graphics, and the problem might not be the GPU, but rather the Southbridge chip coming loose.
