Laptop (screen?) freezes

Hi,
I have a ThinkPad T43 (1871-F1G). The laptop (screen?) randomly freezes. If I tilt the laptop I can keep working as if nothing happened.
All keyboard strokes and mouse movements are recorded when the laptop (screen?) freezes. For example, if I type "ThinkPad" and the laptop freezes after hitting "k", the "Pad" appears when I tilt the computer and it no longer freezes.
If I gently press the keyboard down with my hand the computer also resumes.
A friend suggested that I replace the keyboard. I have done this, but it did not solve the problem.
What can I do?
Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

Hi, and welcome to the forum!

Search the forum for Southbridge, and I think you will find information about your problem and the solution. You may also want to contact forum member poshgeordie, as he can fix it for you.

My thoughts too about Southbridge. Yes, Neil has pointed you in a good direction as poshgeordie (Nick) will be able to help with the problem. He is Newcastle-upon-Tyne ... so just across the North Sea from you.

If you look at the header section there is an advert for T40 Graphics Reflowing in UK & Europe.

Let us know how you get on. :)

Nick fixed my laptop by reballing the Southbridge Chip. The costs was reasonable and the service outstanding.
Thanks for the suggestions.
