Which thinkpad models have rollcages?

#1 Post by irus » Sun May 09, 2010 3:11 am

i understand X201 has it in the lid not in the bottom/planar area while x300 has it in both places. Not sure of T series. Can people chip in here with their knowledge of models which certainly have the rollcage ?
more specifically does the x201t have both a bottom and lid rollcage?

thanks

The rollcage marketing started around the T60 generation. As far as solid construction, you can go survey everyone on that (Or procure yourself a few older Thinkpads.)

See my answer in the other thread: no it doesn't. The X201 and X300 do not have a roll-cage in the same sense as some of the T-series; it simply has carbon-fiber reinforced plastic for the lid. That is what the "next generation Thinkpad 'roll cage'" on the linked page is referring to.

Which ThinkPads do you have? Have you availed of Service / Support / Warranty in India?

Nice, my T43's warranty expired a little under two years ago (It turns five this summer!)
Still going strong and it just needs a replacement fan.

Oh and a new bezel and lid if I want it to look nice.

...Perhaps I will try to obtain a used T42p or T43p one day with a X Tablet

CCR i.e. Carry in.. In India.. What kind of wait / turnaround have you experienced with the Service center with your CCR warranty?
I'd like to see how good the Onsite support truely is..

i get parts delivered onsite like keyboards and cd drives. i guess its because those are customer replaceable units. its fast. NBD. Once i got a wrong part , the guy drove back and got back the right part same day.

Nice. I havent had the need to call on them yet. Do you call some 1800 number or a local Delhi office? I just want to be prepared if I ever do need them. I might just give them a trial call to test it out.
