Mini PCI Express wifi card: Switch between 2 thinkpads?

I own both an SL500 and an X200. The X200 has an intel 5300 BGN wifi card while the SL500 is only B/G. If you try to put a different wifi card in, you get an 1802 error...
So here's the issue. I should be able to get a third party 802.11n card to work via a bios fix, BUT my SL500 won't accept the wifi card from my X200.
Has anyone tried this? I know it's an odd issue....
Thanks for any help.

The only fix that I am aware of for an 1802 error is a patched BIOS. The only member here that I am aware of offering patched BIOS's is Zender. If you need a patched BIOS for an SL510, contact Zender.

I wonder if there are any known issues w/ using a 510 bios with a 500....

Each model has it's own list of cards it accepts.
It's quite possible that the card from your X200 is not on the whitelist of the SL500.
So you either need to buy a Lenovo branded card that works in your SL500 (which basically means a card with a FRU number listed in the Hardware Maintenance Manual for the SL500), or you need a modified BIOS.
But as far as I know Zender doesn't have a BIOS for the SL500.

Sadly, I am currently taking the easy way out and purchased a very very small USB 802.11n nub from meritline.com.
I have to say, it has good ratings and is only $12, but it's not the "fix" i was looking for.
